Rep. Delgado Discusses Infrastructure in Hillsdale with Local Officials
HILLSDALE, NY — Today, Rep. Antonio Delgado (NY-19) joined Hillsdale Supervisor Peter Cipkowski and local officials to tour Hillsdale’s recent infrastructure improvements and discuss his work in Congress to improve infrastructure upstate.
“Investing in rural infrastructure is key to the economic success of our communities. I’m committed to working with both sides of the aisle to invest in our crumbling infrastructure, create good-paying jobs, and make transportation safer and more efficient,” said Delgado. “I introduced the Rebuild Rural America Act to fund infrastructure updates for local municipalities and change the way the federal government works alongside local governments. Hillsdale is a good example of a successful partnership between a town and the federal government. I’ll keep working to boost federal investment in infrastructure across NY-19.”
Rep. Delgado is committed to ensuring rural upstate communities have the opportunity and resources to access federal dollars and rebuild aging infrastructure. Delgado introduced the Promoting Infrastructure and Protecting the Economy (PIPE) Act, which would create a new grant program to help communities in New York and across the country invest in critical water system upgrades. The bill would authorize $5 billion over 10 years to provide discretionary grants to state and local governments, tribal governments, and public water utilities for projects related to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure. Delgado also introduced the Rebuild Rural America Act to improve the way that the federal government supports economic development projects in small towns and rural communities to better fit their specific needs. This bill would create the Rural Future Partnership Fund through USDA, which would provide $50 billion in multi-year, flexible block grants to rural regions that have trouble navigating the complex federal grants process.
