WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) voted to pass the Justice in Policing Act of 2021, comprehensive police reform legislation. Rep. Delgado is an original co-sponsor of the Justice in Policing Act.

“The Justice in Policing Act is an important step to increase accountability and transparency in policing across the United States,” said Rep. Delgado. “This meaningful and vital legislation delivers common-sense reforms, like banning chokeholds and requiring body cameras. I urge the Senate to pass these overdue measures as soon as possible.”

The Justice in Policing Act:

  • Works to end racial and religious profiling
  • Saves lives by banning chokeholds and no-knock warrants
  • Limits military equipment on American streets and requires body cameras
  • Improves transparency by collecting data on police misconduct and use-of-force
  • Creates law enforcement accreditation standard recommendations and law enforcement training programs
