Following House Passage of His Bipartisan State and Local Funding Legislation, Rep. Antonio Delgado Holds Tenth Telephone Town Hall on Coronavirus Response
RHINEBECK, NY—On Thursday evening, May 21, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) held his tenth weekly telephone town hall on coronavirus. After holding 35 in-person town halls, Rep. Delgado has hosted ten interactive telephone forums to answer questions, provide resources, support community conversation and remain accessible to all eleven counties in NY-19 while respecting social distancing measures.
Rep. Delgado’s tenth telephone town hall comes after a bipartisan coalition in the House voted to pass his bipartisan and bicameral Direct Support for Communities Act as part of the Heroes Act. This legislation would ensure that every single county, town, and municipality would be able to qualify for federal coronavirus funding. During this week’s telephone town hall, the Congressman and panelists discussed the urgent need to pass legislation to support communities’ coronavirus response, assist small businesses and farmers during the pandemic, and expand access to rural broadband. Panelists included Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan and Deputy District Director of the Small Business Administration Syracuse District Office Dan Rickman.
“Following House passage of the Direct Support for Communities Act, I am glad to have the opportunity to connect with folks across the district and answer questions about the coronavirus including my legislation to support state and local government resources. Questions covered a wide range of topics focused on the next steps for our region and reopening our economy,” said Rep. Delgado. “I want to extend my appreciation to everyone who dialed in and our knowledgeable panelists who added insights into assistance for small businesses and local resources available to our community.”
