Delgado Visits Webutuck Central School District in Dutchess County
AMENIA, NY — Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited Webutuck Central School District in Amenia, during which he met with administrators, teachers, staff, and students K-12. During the visit, Delgado had a chance to speak with a class of kindergartners, as well as with students in a Studio and Computer Art class, an English class, and a Coding class. Additionally, the Congressman had the chance to learn more about the school's plans to build out a School-Based Health Center.
“I always enjoy connecting with young people and hearing directly from them about their priorities,” said Delgado. Delgado continued, “Education is the key to opportunity and I’m committed to making sure our schools are supported and have the resources they need to ensure our children have the brightest future possible.”
Delgado has prioritized hearing from students across NY-19, and last year held an education and workforce development themed in-district work week focused on meeting young people across the district in workforce development programs, public schools, and universities. In 2019, Delgado introduced bipartisan legislation that strengthens FAFSA for working and non-traditional students and increases higher education opportunities, as well as the Young Farmer Success Act which would add farmers and ranchers to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Both of these bills were included in the College Affordability Act, a landmark bill that reauthorizes higher education programs.
