Delgado Keynotes 34th Annual MLK Anniversary Celebration Program in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY, NY — This afternoon, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) returned to his hometown of Schenectady to deliver the keynote address at the 34th Annual MLK Anniversary Celebration Program and Community Town Hall. Today’s event, hosted by the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission's MLK Coalition, was themed, “Time to Act; Now More Than Ever!” In his address, Delgado honored a number of community advocates and reflected on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
"I’m thankful for the opportunity to come together in the community I grew up in for the 34th Annual MLK Anniversary Celebration to reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King lived a life based on unconditional love and with a profound commitment to rooting out injustice wherever he found it. May his legacy continue to serve as an example for us all," said Delgado. “I thank the commission and community at SUNY Schenectady for their work today to coordinate an impactful event in honor of Dr. King.”
The program also featured Spectrum News Anchor Mercedes Williams, music from The Mt. Calvary Baptist Adult Choir, and local high school performances.
