Delgado Announces Federal Funding for Middleburgh Fire Department in Schoharie County

MIDDLEBURGH, NY—Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) announced nearly $3,000 in federal funding for Middleburgh Fire Department in Schoharie County. These funds, distributed through the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG), will allow the Middleburgh Fire Department to buy supplemental Personal Protective Equipment to ensure that the firefighters can protect the local community as safely and effectively as possible.

"The Middleburgh Fire Department is a community landmark and resource, protecting our area with dedicated volunteers. I am proud to announce federal funding to allow Middleburgh Fire to purchase needed Personal Protective Equipment that will help keep their brave fire men and women safe while fighting fires. I held one of my town halls in Schoharie at the Middleburgh Fire Department and look forward to returning to the station shortly so I can see this equipment and thank our community volunteers for their bravery and efforts to protect and serve," said Rep. Delgado.

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant – COVID-19 Supplemental Program (AFG-S) provides funds for the purchase of PPE and related supplies for our nation's first responders during the coronavirus (COVID- 19) response. Through this funding opportunity, FEMA will directly award funding for PPE and other supplies to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies (SFTAs), and nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services (NAEMS) organizations to support first responders with COVID-19 response.
