The American Rescue Plan has helped us return to the places and people we love, kept cherished mom-and-pop shops open for business, provided K-12 education funding, emergency rent relief, and direct support to local governments. It has boosted our economy and created millions of jobs, making a direct impact on countless upstate families from across the political spectrum.
Dairy farming is a time-honored tradition throughout upstate and a crucial part of our local economy. In New York's 19th Congressional District – the 8th most rural in the entire country - over 500 dairy farms support more than 2,200 direct jobs, nearly $100 million in wages, and generate an economic impact of $500 million.
A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll showed that half of Black Americans will not take a COVID-19 vaccine. Even some Black doctors and health care workers have refused the vaccine, citing safety concerns and the well-documented failures of the U.S. government to prioritize communities of color in medical research.
