Upstate clean-water advocates and members of Congress are gearing up to fight possible refusal by the Environmental Protection Agency to place limits on the kind of toxic chemicals that contaminated drinking water in Hoosick Falls, Petersburgh and elsewhere in New York.

New York Democratic members of Congress are calling for action after news that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency would not move to set limits for PFAS chemicals – a group of believed carcinogens found in several communities.

Compounds PFOA and PFOS have contaminated water supplies in Hoosick Falls, Petersburgh, Newburgh, and other communities.
